A Message from Community Fundraising Committee Chair, Bob Jacobson
Friends,
The Community Fundraising Committee at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong oversees more than 250 fundraising events each year. These events range from large company-sponsored golf tournaments to small bake sales and lemonade stands, and they are all important. All together they raise over $400,000 for the hospital and help us provide the very best care for the children and grandchildren from the hospital’s 17-county primary service area. Many organizations brag about returning 80 percent or 85 percent of the amount that they were able to raise. Through our community fund raising events, 100 percent of every dollar stays right here in Rochester and goes directly to help the 100,000 children treated each year at the hospital.
Many of our supporting groups and organizations have taken tours of the hospital to see firsthand the treatment the children are receiving. I have had the privilege to meet and get to know many of the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital and I can assure you that they will treat your child as their own. I know of one doctor who had worked a full shift only to return at 11 p.m. to help a seriously ill child with a difficult IV. You can’t buy that kind of dedication, but you can recognize it and support it.
Going to the hospital can be a very scary thing, but we have been making steady progress in improving the facilities and making them more child-friendly. This includes colorful murals on the walls, access to television and the Internet, and room for parents to stay with their child. We are resolved and dedicated to do everything possible to ease their pain. These improvements and enhancements are only possible through the generosity of our community.
If you are interested in helping us, please contact the Development Office at (585) 273-5948.
Sincerely,

Bob Jacobson
